Second Lt Hill was a graduate of Tuskegee cadet program in class 42-l single engine. He had a visual rating. He was in the 100th fighter Squadron of the 332nd fighter group, Tuskegee Airmen. On June 16 he was flying a Vultee BT-13A tail number 42-42926 out of Oscode AAF on a weather observation flight with weatherman Luther Blakeney as passenger. A rapidly forming fog extended to the lake surface and he became disoriented, possibly loosing the artificial horizon as well, and crashed into the lake. Both were recovered. He left behind a wife LaVerne.
