Following graduation from the University of Iowa where he was a brother of the Iowa Gamma chapter of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, he received his commission as an officer in the USAF, serving seven years as aircraft commander in a KC-135 refueler in the Vietnam War, flying over 300 sorties.
Captain Bredall was awarded the Airman's Medal, February 21, 1972, for heroism involving risk of life, rescuing two small children from a burning building. Also, Mark was an FBI Special Agent and aviation coordinator in south Florida from 1978-1987. A man of great versatility, he retired as a broker with A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc., December 31, 2005.
He was an avid sports fan and loved fishing, gardening, duplicate bridge and walking his dog, "Annie." Few know he was a wonderful singer with a select group while at the university.
Mark deeply loved his daughter, Erin and his son, Steve (wife, Wendy) and their three sons: Connor, Tyler and Ethan. His brother, Steve Bredall of Dallas, TX., has been a source of comfort and wisdom to us all. A Memorial Service was held Tuesday, August 8, 1:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church, 1515 N. Cascade Ave.
Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to the Humane Society of the Pike's Peak Region, 610 Abbott Lane, Colorado Springs, 80905, Attn. Randy Harrelson or to the American Cancer Society, 1445 N. Union, Ste. B-100, Colorado Springs, 80909.
