Michael Drulis, age 88, passed away on June 14, 2009. Born on Dec. 15, 1920 in New Brunswick, NJ and was one of four children. Michael owned Mae and Mickey's Sweet Shop from 1951-1971 and worked for Triangle Industry before retiring at age 62. Michael retired to Daytona Beach in 1989 and then moved to Jacksonville in April 2009. He was a member of the Elks Club, Life member of the Knights of Columbus, and was a member of the Police Reserve as a Captain. Michael is a WWII Disabled Veteran. He enlisted to active service in 1/13/42 in the US Army Air Corps as an Armored Gunner in the 5th Air Force on B25 and B24 planes, based in New Guinea. He received a medal with a 3 Oak Leaf Cluster and was Honorably Discharged. After the war he spent 5 years working at the Edison Armory Plant as supervisor on machine guns and rifles. He leaves behind his wife of 63 yrs, Mae J. Raspa Drulis, of Highland Park, NJ; son, Steven and wife Francesca of East Bruns, NJ; grandchildren, Daniela, Michael and Catherine. Daughter, Aggie and husband Tim Horvath of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren: Laura Christine, Caitlyn Joy, Robert James and Brianna Francesca. Visitation will be Wed., June 17th between 4-7pm, funeral service to follow on Thursday, June 18th 10am at the funeral home chapel. Memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans. Military: WWII Disabled Veteran. He enlisted to active service on January 13, 1942 in the U.S. Army Air Corps as an Armored Gunner in the 5th Air Force on B25 and B24 planes, based in New Guinea. He received a medal with a 3 Oak Leaf Cluster and was Honorably Discharged. After the war he spent five years working at the Edison Armory Plant as supervisor on machine guns and rifles. He is survived by family and friends.
