Obituary
Wilma Elizabeth Rogers, 87, of Franklin, formerly of Asheville, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2007 following a brief illness.
A native of Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Rogers and Florence Welch Rogers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Carlos Rogers and T.C. "Bug" Rogers. Wilma moved to Asheville in 1941 and owned her own beauty shop for 38 years. She returned to Franklin in 1993. She was a member of Tellico Baptist Church; a member of the Gem Country Republican Women's Club and was the driving force behind saving the Oak Grove Swinging Bridge. Her faith kept her strong and it was her desire to encourage all those with whom she came into contact.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathryn Hildreth and husband Tommy of Franklin; two sister-in-laws, Vera Rogers of Franklin and Louise Rogers Harrison of Asheville; three step-grandchildren, Perry Hildreth of Boiling Springs, NC, Sherri Hildreth of Chesterfield, SC and Brett Hildreth of Wadesboro, NC; a nephew Jim Rogers of Palmetto, SC; a niece Patricia Scott of Asheville; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Iotla Baptist Church. Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate. Burial will be in the Tellico Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bob Williams, Burket Farrell, Rocky Briones, Perry Hildreth, Brett Hildreth, Eric Donahue.
Members of Gem Country Republican Women�s Club will be honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
