W. H. Long, 89, Dies Aug. 28th; Rites on Tuesday

William Hampton Long, 89, of the Blair Community, died Sunday, August 28, in a Columbia hospital after a brief illness.

He was born in Blair on November 25, 1876, son of the late James I. and Mary Brown Long, and was a retired farmer. Mr. Long was a member of rock Creek Baptist Church, and had served as a deacon for a number of years.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Fannie Jones Long, two daughters, Mrs. Hannie Ragsdale, Blair, and Mrs. Louise Culbreath of Union; a son, Reid Long, Blair; and a sister, Mrs. Hannie Blair, of Blair. Several grandchildren also survive.

Final rites were held from Rock Creek Baptist Church on Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Hill and the Rev. J. L. Russell. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers were grandsons, Harry Long, Willie Long, Gordon Ragsdale, Jr., Glenn Ragsdale, Johnny Ragsdale and Bill Culbreath, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers were J. Morris Lyles, Dr. J. C. Buchanan, Jr., Howe Lemmon, A. E. Davis, Bill Suber, John K. Ragsdale, Lee Fuller, Howard Coleman, D. P. Coleman, Frank Fee, Joe Fee, Thomas Wilkes, H. G. Wright and J. L. Mattox.
