Rose Marie Hardwick, 74, of Marshalltown, died April 10, 2009, at her home with family by her side, while under the care of Iowa River Hospice.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at The Salvation Army Community Center in Marshalltown. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home. Memorial contributions to honor Rose may be directed to The Salvation Army or the M.S. Society. Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Rose was born and raised in Fargo, N.D., July 30, 1934, the daughter of John and Anna (Jendro) Weerts. She was united in marriage to Roy Dennis Hardwick on Feb. 23, 1957, in Fargo. Rose was a homemaker.
She enjoyed playing Bingo, fishing, playing games and picnics. She also loved watching wrestling, western movies and Wheel of Fortune. Rose was a member of the Home League Ladies of The Salvation Army and the American Legion Auxillary.
Rose will be missed by her children Ruth (Doug) Bracy and Steve R. (Sandy) Hardwick; grandchildren, John R. (Catilin) Hardwick, Reesa R. Bracy and Aaron S. Bracy; great -grandchild, Ethen R. Hardwick; her caregiver and loving companion, Roger P. Diggins, all of Marshalltown; and many nieces and nephews.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Elizabeth Grade, Lucille Wasescha and Helena Laugeness; brother, Herman Weerts; and her husband, Roy on July 21, 1972.
