SFC (Ret) John Herbert Nesbitt
26 November 1928 - 10 May 2006

Columbus, GA -- SFC (Ret) John Herbert Nesbitt, 77, of Columbus, GA. died Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at Columbus Specialty Hospital. Graveside funeral services with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, May 13, 2006 in Parkhill Cemetery according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus. The family will receive friends this evening from 6:00 p. m. until 8:00 p. m. at the funeral home. SFC Nesbitt was born in Birmingham, Al on November 26, 1928, son of the late Joseph Hampton Nesbitt and Effie Myrtle Tucker Nesbitt. He retired from the US Army after 23 years of service where he served in Vietnam. His wife, Myra Blow Nesbitt, his brother, George Hampton Nesbitt and a sister, Jane Hester (Nesbitt) Clough preceded him in death. Survivors include his four children, David Nesbitt of Phenix City, John Nesbitt and his wife Sheila of Phenix City, Denise Martin and her husband Eddie of Columbus and Melissa Abbott and her husband John of Phenix City, two sisters, Joanna Jones of Daytona Beach, Fl and Delores Chandler of Louisiana, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

(NOTE: John had two children from a previous marriage with Edna Sue Isbell and unknown amount of grandchildren and great grandchildren)
