Greer, SC - Jonnie E. Powell died on Tuesday night, Feb. 8, 1949, at 11:15 following an illness of six months. He was born and reared in Spartanburg County, SC and had made his residents in Greer, SC for the past 20 years. He was the son of the late John and Texanna Burgess Powell and was a member of the Appalache Methodist Church. Survivors included: his mother; his wife, the former Miss Myrtle Buchanan; three daughters, Mrs. Dick Worley, Mrs. Azell Richards and Mrs. Marvin Bradley; one son Perry E. Powell; three brothers, Robert, Wilbert and Olin Powell; 5 sisters, Misses Bessie and Ethel Powell, Mrs. Johnnie Brannon and Mrs. Lewis Watson; five grandchildren. He was 49 years of age at demise and interment was in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
