PHOTO DATED, ABOUT 24 JUNE 1896 OF MOST ALL THE CHILDREN OF THE REMER DEKLE & MARY JANE BOWEN FAMILY
(TAKEN, I BELIEVE, DURING THE FUNERAL OF THEIR 10-YEAR OLD SON, CARL E. DEKLE)

I was very interested in this Remer Dekle Family Photo which showed so many of the family members and also the grandfather of their children. I spent several hours finding the exact birth/death dates of all the family members and, including, of course, their grandfather, Silas Elisha Bowen, born 05 JUN 1815, died 14 SEP 1896. My most significant finding after thorough analysis was determining the exact date this photo was taken. The date, I believe, to be during the Funeral of their 10 year old son, Carl E. Dekle, b. 09 JUN 1886, d. 22 JUN 1896, who was buried in the Bowen-Dekle Cemetery as C. E. DEKLE a day or so after his death.

DETAILS OF MY ANALYSIS OF THIS PHOTO FOLLOWS:

We know the first person standing on the Left is Silas Elisha Bowen (father of Mary Jane Bowen), who died 14 SEP 1896, then the Photo was taken during late June of 1896, in my opinion, just prior, during, or after, the funeral of Remer and Mary Jane's son, Carl E. Dekle, who died at the age 10 years. The following names of those in the photo, in my opinion, are identified and seem to fit. From Left to Right:

(1) Standing, extreme left, is Silas Elisha Bowen (1815-1896), Father of Mary Jane Bowen (wife of Remer Dekle). Less than 3 months later Silas Elisha Bowen would also be buried in Bowen-Dekle Cemetery.
(2) Standing, second from left, is Remer Dekle (1858-1903), husband of Mary Jane Dekle and father of all the children in this photo, except for an unnamed cousin and another friend visiting Laura Pearl Dekle.
(3) Third from left, Remer Gary Dekle (1892-1981), a son, 3 years, 7 months old. This is the Child Standing between Remer Dekle and Mary Jane Bowen.
(4) Fourth from left, Mary Jane Bowen (1858-1943), wife of Remer Dekle, mother of the children - standing holding a young child.
(5) Michell Duran Dekle (1895-1897), a son, 9 months old, being held by his mother.
(6) D. R. "DeRoy" Dekle (1880-1958), a son, 16 years old.
(7) Miss (unknown given name) Dekle, a cousin living with the family,
(8) Laura Pearl Dekle (1882-1978), a daughter, 14 years, 1 month old, and those are her dolls next to her,
(9) an unnamed friend visiting Laura Pearl Dekle,
(10) George Adam Dekle (1884-1970), a son, 12 years old.
(11) Standing, extreme right, is John Harvey Dekle (1888-1971), a son, 7 years, 9 months old.

Analysis Basis - Below are the ages of Remer and Mary Jane Bowen Dekle's children, on the date the photo was taken, in JUNE OF 1896 including their last child born two years and three months later. At the time this photo was taken their grandfather, Silas Elisha Bowen (1815-1896) was still alive and is in this historic Dekle family photo. This was three months prior to his death. Again, this photo was taken just before or just after the burial of Carl E. Dekle in the Bowen-Dekle Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia (at that time the cemetery was in Bulloch County, 18 years later, in 1914, the Georgia State Legislature created Candler County and this cemetery was in the area of the newly created county. All nine (9) of the DEKLE children and their ages are listed below on the date of Carl's death, as well as their last child, Mary Edna Dekle, born two years and three months after this photo was taken:

2. Laura Pearl Dekle, b. 14 MAY 1882, d. 03 JUL 1978: Age 14 years, 1 month in this photo.
3. George Adams Dekle, b. 23 JUN 1884, d. 29 MAR 1970: Age 12 years in this photo.
4. Carl E. Dekle, b. 09 JUN 1886, d. 22 JUN 1896: Age 10 years. Not shown in photo because photo was taken during his funeral, I believe.
5. John Harvey Dekle, b. 19 SEP 1888, d, 24 MAY 1971: Age 7 years, 9 months in this photo.
6. Silas Mark Dekle, b. 07 DEC 1891, d. 01 FEB 1967: Age 4 years, 6 months - Not shown in this photo.
7. Remer Gary Dekle, b. 27 NOV 1892, d. 12 OCT 1981: Age 3 years, 7 months in this photo.
8. Michell Duran Dekle, b. 28 SEP 1895, d. 24 SEP 1897: Age 9 months in this photo.
9. Mary Edna Dekle, b. 24 AUG 1898, d. 22 OCT 1989: Not in this photo. This family photo was taken, two years and two months prior to her birth.
