Annie Martinez Aguilar, 82, passed away, surrounded by her family, on Monday, January 14, 2008, in Baytown. She was born in Baytown on February 2, 1925. She was one of 11 children born to Marcos and Reyes Martinez. Annie enjoyed music, dancing and was an avid fan of all sports. She retired from Lee College and especially enjoyed attending the Lee College Rebel basketball games.

Annie is preceded in death by her parents; son, Rocky Romano Aguilar; brothers, Antonio, Julio, Joe, Geronimo and Gilbert Martinez; sisters, Louisa Martinez, Juventina Pina, and Carmen Contreras.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Joe L. Aguilar, Jr, and wife, Sylvia, of Pasadena; daughters, Sylvia Aguilar of Baytown, Dolores Luna and husband, Tim, of Houston, Leticia Escalon and husband, Miguel, of Baytown, and Teresa Araujo and husband, Louis. She is also survived by her brother, Robert O. Martinez, Sr. and wife, Margie; sister, Mary "Kiki" Garcia of Baytown; sisters-in-law, Alice Martinez of Solomon, AR, Mary M. and Estella G. Martinez of Baytown, and brother-in-law, Miguel Contreras, Jr. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Sgt. 1st Class Richard Pallanez, Jr. and wife, April, Shannon Aguilar and wife, Kelly, Sean Aguilar and wife, Tina, Allison, Nicole, Lauren and Sarah Araujo, Joe L. Aguilar, III and wife, Geneil, Marissa Armstrong, Tricia Braham and husband, Rachid, Jr., Denise Acosta and husband, Floencio, Charles Kris Aguilar, Jaret R. Aguilar, and Rocky Pallanez. Annie is also survived by her great grandchildren, Saree Aguilar, William Hall, Justin Poss, Natalie and Michael Rodriguez, Robby and Richard Pallanez, III, Kelsey Armstrong, Ily and Joseph Aguilar, Jasmine, Isiah, Jeremiah, Amerika and Natalia Acosta, Rashid Braham III, and Joshua Pallanez.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 16, 2008, from 4 p.m. to 8 pm, with a rosary at 7 p.m., at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home in Baytown, Texas.

A Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with Monsignor Fred O'Connor officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens. Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Shannon Aguilar, Joe Aguilar, III, Jaret R. Aguilar, Richard "Rock" Garcia, Robert O. Martinez, Jr., and Sgt. 1st Class Richard Pallanez, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Kristian Aguilar and David Andrew Aguilar.
