Bruce E. Adams, 86, of 612 Keck Ave., New Bethlehem, formerly of Distant, died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, in Clarion Hospital.

Born Sept. 14, 1914, in Distant, Armstrong County, he was a son of Omar C. and Laura Stokes Adams.

Mr. Adams had been a truck driver and was a member of Local No. 538 Teamsters Union in Kittanning. He was a member of Oakland Church of God in Distant.

Mr. Adams was married May 16, 1935, to Lucille R. Crawford, who died July 27, 2000.

Surviving are a son, Bruce E. Adams Jr. and his wife, Vicki, of New Bethlehem; two daughters, Beverly Doverspike and her husband, Edward, of Fairmount City, and Joan Stout of Brookville; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a sister, Esther Shoemaker of Saegertown; and a brother, Charles Adams of Cabot. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday in the Charles D. Alcorn Funeral Home, Hawthorn. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. James Swogger, pastor of Oakland Church of God in Distant, officiating.

Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery at Distant.
