JOHN W. CLAYTON, 61, died at his home in Pacolet Route 1 Saturday night after a year's illness. Mr. CLAYTON was a native of Spartanburg County and was a son of the late WILLIE and NANCY WILLIAMS CLAYTON. He was employed at Pacolet Mills for 30 years, retiring one year ago. Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. MARY CHAPMAN CLAYTON; 2 sisters, Mrs. BERTIE GOWAN of Spartanburg and Mrs. LELIA MARTIN of Inman; 3 brothers, BELVIN CLAYTON of Greer, EBER CLAYTON of Taylors and SOLOMON CLAYTON of Laurens. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the J. F. Floyd Mortuary.
