ADAMS, JOHN GARLAND (JOHNNY) - age 87, a lifelong resident of Madisonville, passed away Tuesday evening, March 17, 2009 at the Charlie Norwood V.A. Hospital in Augusta, GA where he lived with his son at the time of his death.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II.
Preceded in death by wife, Alberta Bivens Adams; sons, Lee Ivan Adams and Steven Adams; parents, Donnie B. and Lee Adams.
Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, John Olen and Jeanette Adams, Augusta, GA; daughter, Robin Stooksbury, Knoxville; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Juanita Gray, Tellico Plains; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Biereley-Hale Chapel. Interment in Cane Creek Cemetery, with military honors by V.F. W. Post 5156 and D.A.V. Chapter 93. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.
