Roy was born in Minnesota; Washington Township, Le Sueur County. Roy DAVIS was actually named Roie Loranza DAVIS by his mother Margaret SLY DAVIS. She gave all 4 of her DAVIS children unique names that were unlike any in the rest of the extended DAVIS family.
Some quick geography notes: Washington Township is the smallest township in Le Sueur County having been halved when Blue Earth County annexed it to become Jamestown Township (again half of a regular sized township) in that county. Washington Twp. is located on the east side of the Lake Washington. The lake itself takes much of the land surface making available land area rather small.
The little hamlet of Marysburg is located in Washington Townships southern edge. It lies immediately north of the Jamestown Township, Blue Earth county line. I believe the DAVIS family attended the Catholic church in Marysburg while they lived here. At that time Marysburg was a bustling little place with a store, a school, a few houses, a large stagecoach 'pit stop' and the Catholic Church and Catholic Cemetery.
