A native of Alachua, Fla., he had resided in Pomona Park since 1994, coming from Crescent City. He was a retired postal carrier and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was also a life member of the VFW Post No. 3349, American Legion Post No. 30 in Sarasota and a member of Moose Lodge No. 1641 in Crescent City.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Howell of Pomona Park; son, Bryan Howell of Sarasota; 2 sisters, of Gainesville and Crescent City; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews of Gainesville.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 2 p.m. at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Rev. Jakie Carmicle officiating. Interment will follow at Palatka Memorial Gardens. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd 14 Sep 1998.)
