Born in beautiful Auburn, Placer County, California, to Thomas E. Stephens and Abbie Babcock, Thomas Ebenezer Stephens Jr. enjoyed a comfortable life as the son of a prominent merchant. He lost both of his parents at the young age of 8, yet his loving parents provided for him well. The legal guardian of his estate and person, Judge J.E. Prewitt, saw to it that Thomas attended college at University California Berkeley, which served Thomas well in his career as Broker in the oil business, and later as a Mining Engineer. Thomas spent 12 years working in Argentina, and in 1917 he welcomed a son to his life, Carlos D. Stephens. Although Thomas lived and worked all over the world, he always returned to beautiful Auburn, California. He is buried near his mom & dad in Old Auburn Cemetery.
