Robert Herman Knight, 79, of Marietta, Ga. died Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at his home.
He was born on November 14, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Charles and Eloise Knight. Known affectionately as Bob Bob to his grandchildren, Mr. Knight graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1959. He worked for Reynolds Aluminum Supply Company as a plant manager before retiring after 35 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandra Struss Knight, of Louisville, Kentucky, and children; Tammy Bryant of Marietta, Bobby Knight and wife Leigh of Newnan, Terry Farley and husband Richard of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; grandchildren, Drew and Abby Bryant; Chastity, Ansley and Carson Knight, and Alex, Zach and Sydney Farley. He is also survived by brothers Rayburn Knight of Louisville, Kentucky; Bill Knight of Chicago, Illinois, and Jack Knight of Morgantown, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his brother, King Knight of Kentucky.
The memorial service will be held Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son-Canton Hill Chapel in Marietta, GA. Burial will follow at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to WellStar Community Hospice, 4040 Hospital W.
