Clifford SHOEMAKER, 63, farmer residing eight miles southeast of Argos, died at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at his home. He had been ill for the past 10 days following a stroke of paralysis.
Mr. Shoemaker was born October 31, 1889 at Silver Lake, Ind. His parents were Daniel and Orpha (BURKETT) SHOEMAKER. He was married to Nettie CHAPMAN on Jan. 2, 1907, at Warsaw. Mr. Shoemaker was a member of the Walnut Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are his wife, at home; six sons, Ralph and Raymond [SHOEMAKER], Rochester; Roy and Claude [SHOEMAKER], Argos; Lee and Carl [SHOEMAKER], Los Angeles, Cal.; a daughter, Mrs. Fern SWIHART, Argos; three brothers, Lloyd [SHOEMAKER], Argos; Ted [SHOEMAKER], Burkett and Chester [SHOEMAKER], Silver Lake. Two sons, Howard and Donald [SHOEMAKER] preceded him in death. Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Walnut Church of the Brethren. Rev. RAY, of Winona Lake, assisted by Rev. Roy S. RICHEY, Walnut, will officiate. Burial will be in the Sand Hill cemetery.
Friends may call at the Umbaugh funeral home, Argos. The body will also lie in state at the church from 1 until 2 p.m. Sunday.
