Longtime Deer Park resident Archie C. Ackley, 84, died Saturday at a St. Helena guest home.
Mr. Ackley was born Dec. 17, 1903 in Fresno to Edwin Pitt and Fannie Covie Ackley. As a young man, he moved with his family to St. Helena by covered wagon and went to work as a page at St. Helena Hospital. Mr. Ackley later became stationary engineer at the hospital, working there over 60 years. He retired in the early 1970s.
Mr. Ackley married the former Ruby Elkins on Feb. 25, 1923, in the Sanitarium Church. He was a member of the Elmshaven Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Mr. Ackley is survived by his wife, Ruby of Deer Park; one daughter, Winona Dawn Kaiser of Vallejo; one sister, Vera Willson of San Diego; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Chapel, 1432 Main St., St. Helena. Interment will be private in St. Helena Cemetery.
