Revola Jean Whitmore was born on her grandmother's birthday, May 26, 1929, in
Liberty Township near Maxwell, Iowa, the daughter of Stephen A. and Goldie Marie
Hauser Whitmore. She attended school in the Liscomb area, and during her high school
years, was involved in band, glee club, drama, and the basketball team. On November 12,
1946, Revola married James Earl Farmer in Phoenix City, Alabama. As an army wife,
she accompanied her husband to various military installations in the United States and
Italy. Upon Earl's retirement from the army in 1964, they moved to Marshalltown. She
worked for several local nursing care facilities as a nurse's aide and CMA, retiring in
1991. Revola enjoyed bowling in day leagues, traveling, baking and playing cars with
friends and family. She was a member of the Central Christian Church. Revola is
survived by her three children: Glenda (Roger) Osgood of Marshalltown, Joyce E. (Rich)
Gralnek of Urbandale and Steve (Lori) Farmer of Brandon, Mississippi, four grandsons:
Todd (Melissa) Osgood of Omaha, Nebraska, Alan (Stephanie) Osgood of Marshalltown,
Cade Farmer of Boston, Mass. and Morgan Farmer of Brandon, Mississippi, two greatgrandchildren:
Sarah & Ryan Osgood; three sisters: Verneta Rash of Ellsworth, Maxine
(Laverne) Sinclair of Ferguson and Janice Stonewall of Rhodes; three brothers: Wallace
Whitmore, Everett (Janine) Whitmore and Lowell (Jean) Whitmore, all of Marshalltown;
brother-in-law: Rob Davis of and sister-in-law: Jean Whitmore of Marshalltown. She was
preceded in death by her parents, husband James in June of 1987, sisters-Audrey Davis
and Evelyn Davis, and brothers Max, Donald and Gerald Whitmore.
