Zelmer B. Johnson, 67, of 1506 W. White St., (Champaign), died at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday (March 13, 1985) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Renner-Wikoff Funeral Home, Urbana, the Rev. Gary Bass officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery, Urbana. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Johnson was born Dec. 28, 1917, at Jabez, Ky., a son of Elmer and Esther Johnson. He married Violette Palmer on Aug. 17, 1940, at Jamestown, Ky. She survives. Survivors also include two sons, James Hugh Johnson of Champaign and Barry Lee Johnson of Urbana; four grandchildren' two brothers, Elzie Johnson of Mahomet and Delmer Johnson of Champaign; and one sister, Marie Shroyer of La Mesa, Calif.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters. Mr. Johnson was a lineman for Illinois Power Co., until his retirement. He attended Champaign public schools. He was a member of Champaign Eagles and the Champaign Am Vets Lodge.
Memorials may be made to the Heart Fund.
