CHAMPAIGN - Funeral services for Delmer E. (sic) Johnson, 75, of 511 Alabama Ave., C, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St., C. The Rev. James L. Houff will officiate. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery, Urbana. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Johnson died at 2:46 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 6, 1993) at home. He was born Dec. 28, 1917, in Russell County, Ky., a son of Elmer and Ester (sic) Roberts Johnson. He married Virginia Landreth on Oct. 19, 1938, at Covington, Ind. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Larry Lee Johnson of Champaign and Dennis Keith Johnson of Baltimore; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers and three sisters. Mr. Johnson worked for Illinois Power Co. as a gas lineman. He also worked at the Champaign Post Office. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the AMVETS and the Eagles, all at Champaign. His hobbies were building clocks and painting.
