Norman Lee Brown, 84, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2008, at Cumberland Medical Center after a prolonged illness. He attended the Pikeville Church of God. Norman was a World War II Marine veteran, Bronze Star honoree, and lifetime business owner. Mr. Brown was well known as the family patriarch and his ability to identify and repair all family vehicle issues. His historical storytelling will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Brown; mother, Orvella Brown; brothers, Harvey, Clinton, and Claude Brown; and sister, Mattie Thurman. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Thelma L. Brown; daughters, Brenda (Clarence) Burgess, and Barbara (Charlie) Young of Pikeville; sons, Bob (Suzy) Brown of Pikeville, and Jim (Hope) Brown of Sparta; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
