LOUISVILLIAN DIES IN CRASH

Tail gunner on a Liberator bomber, Pfc. Kenneth Kuprion, 21, of 1302 S. 23d, died yesterday of injuries suffered Thursday when the plane crashed near Tonopah, Nev., during a training mission. Three other members of the ship's crew were killed in the accident.
News of the crash was disclosed yesterday by March Field, Calif. authorities. Eight other airmen injured in the accident were reported recovering.
Kuprion was in Louisville four weeks ago on furlough visiting his wife, Mrs. Dorleen Kuprion, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kuprion, Jr., at the 23d Street address.
A graduate of du Pont Manual Training High School, Kuprion worked for his father, photographer at various race tracks around the country, until he entered service in September, 1942.
Other survivors as a sister, Miss Doris Kuprion, and two brothers, Robert Kuprion and Arthur Kuprion, the latter an air cadet.

Kuprion; brother of Miss Doris Kuprion, Arthur Jr. and Robert Kuprion. Remains will arrive Friday, March 31, and will be moved to the funeral home of Carl E. Herbold, 20th and Broadway, where funeral services will be held **Saturday morning April 1 at 10 o'clock. Interment in Louisville Memorial Park. (now Louisville Memorial Gardens West) ** according to the records of the cemetery, the burial was 31 March 1944

Crash in Desert Kills Four Men

March Field, Calif - Death total of men killed when a B-24 four-engined Liberator bomber crashed in the desert ten miles from the Tonopah, Nev Army air field rose to four Saturday, when one of the injured crew members died, March Field officials announced.

Latest victim was Pfc. Kenneth G. Kuprion, 21, Lewisville(sic), KY. Kuprion died in the Tonopah Hospital where he was taken after the crash. Eight other injured fliers were reported recovering.

The bomber was on a combat training mission from its base at March Field.

The other dead: First Lt. Robert J. Coen, 24, Iowa City, Iowa; Staff Stg. Jacob R. Lawrence, 24, Darby, PA; Corp Wendell P. King, 24, Richmond, VA.
