Mrs. Mildred Hembree Boyd, 97, of Flat Rock Road, Villa Rica, died Friday, January 1, 2010 in Carrollton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Douglas County, on June 1, 1912, the daughter of the late James Oscar Hembree and the late Allie Ora Couch Hembree. She lived her entire life in the Douglas and Carroll County area, and worked for a number of years in the finishing department of Brown's Hosiery Mill. She was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother, a member of the Carroll County Home EC Club, was an avid quilter - the family said she had quilted so many quilts that they lost count a long time ago. She was the oldest member of the Flat Rock Baptist Church and attended the ladies adult Sunday School Class.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rellie Horace Boyd, a grandson, Glenn Mayfield, two sons-in-laws, Byron Pollard and Jimmy Silvey, 6 Brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her children, Carolyn Mayfield and her husband, Dallas, of Villa Rica, Louise Pollard of Bremen, Fred Boyd and his wife, Charlotte, of Villa Rica, Pat Montgomery and her husband, Doug, of Villa Rica and Peggy Silvey of Carrollton; two brothers, Hugh Dorsey Hembree and Fred Hembree and his wife, Mary, all of Villa Rica; Thirteen Grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 4, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. from the Flat Rock Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Brown and Rev. Wayne Jenkins officiating. Music will be provided by Ritchie Pollard and Randall Pollard.

Pallbearers will be Jason Silvey, Matthew Silvey, Nathan Montgomery, Clay Boyd, Joey Higgins and Greg Hilton. Interment will follow in Glenn Memorial Gardens in the Flat Rock Community.
