Arthur Henry Taylor

Mr. Arthur Henry Taylor, Jr. age 88, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Sunday morning, January 24, 2010 at the local hospital.

Mr. Taylor was born July 8, 1921 in Buffalo, New York, a son of the late Arthur Henry Taylor, Sr. and Sara Louise Egan Taylor.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, William B. Taylor and a sister, Marion Stewart.

Mr. Taylor was a member of Dalton Rotary and honored with a Paul Harris Fellow Award.
He was a member of the NAMSB, (National Association of Mens Sports Wear Buyers) where he was chairman several times, was on the Board of Dalton State College and Hamilton Medical Center, was very active at Saint Joseph Catholic Church where he was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus.

He was also active with many other civic organizations.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II as a First Lieutenant where he was awarded the Bronze Star for heroic achievement, the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, served in the European Theater and awarded Bronze Battle Stars for Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty three years, Mary Jane Taylor of the residence; sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur and Christine Taylor of Phoenix, AZ, Thomas J. and Nancy Taylor of Aliquippa, PA; daughters and sons-in-law, Maureen MacBride of Mountain View, CA, Cathleen and Robert Lewis of Ellwood City, PA, Eileen and J. Blackwell Davis of Charles Town, WV; sister, Phyllis Pung of Lansing, MI; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday morning, January 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Saint Joseph Catholic Church with Father Paul Williams officiating.

He will be laid to rest at the Chattanooga National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Thursday with the American Legion Post #112 in charge of graveside honors.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.
