Saturday evening, October 4th, a few relatives honored T. W. Norville on his 91st birthday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Willie Womble, widow of the late C. D. Womble, who on her last birthday was 84 years old.
T. W. Norville, know to all his friends as
" Tommie Norville" was born October 44, 1861, near Tempeance Hall in Edgecombe County and made his home with his sister in this section for the past 65 years. He has always engaged in farming and for many years owned operated the leading mercantile business in his community, but a few years back retired from mercantile field. He was one of the organizers of The Pinetops Banking Company and is now its oldest director. He has always been ready to act on the many things which have come about for the welfare and progress of his community. He still retains at the age of 91 his same spirt for getting things done.
Mr.Norville has never been married. He does not remember having been sick in bed for a whole day in all his 91 years, and although the rheumatism confines him for the most the time to his wheelchair and automobile, he
continues to enjoy life, his friends visiting him, the television and radio, and smokes cigars and eats as he pleases.
The celebration was closed when the friends and relatives were served ice cream and cake as refreshments with Mr. Norville and Mrs. Womble, his sister, joining them.
