HARLEM, GA Col. Buckley Lawerntz Drenner, Ret., MSC, US Army, 83, entered into rest January 15, 2010 at the University Hospital, Augusta, GA. Born in Comfort, West Virginia on February 22, 1926 , he was the son of the late Cecil Edward Drenner and Maggie Fry (Becky) Denner. Graveside funeral services with Full Military Honors will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, January 18, 2010 at Harlem Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. George Foster officiating. Col. Drenner was a veteran of World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War. He earned many awards during his 34 years of service which include the Legion Of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Bronze Star Medal (1 OLC), Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal (1 OLC), American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (4 Campaigns), United Nations Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Vietnam Cross Of Gallantry W/Palm and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. Col. Drenner held a BS degree from the University of Alabama and a MA degree from the University Incarnate Word. His Military Education included Assoc. INF Officer Course, Assoc. Med Officer Course, Medical Supply Officer Course, Command & General Staff College, Army Log Mgt Course and DEF Intel Log Mgt Course. Col. Drenner is survived by devoted friends, Terry Ellis, Dorothy Camp, Dean Ragsdale, and Ski and Renate Barshafsky. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Lane Drenner of Charleston, WV.
