Bertha Mae Raynes, 87, of Bridgewater, died on Friday, June 1, 2007. She was a longtime resident at Loyalton of Harrisonburg. Bertha had previously lived in the Bridgewater community for many years. She loved being a stay at home mom, taking care of her son and husband. She also enjoyed flowers and working in her yard.

She was the daughter of the late William Thomas Morris and Rose Nell Weaver Morris Deane. She was preceded in death by husband, John Raynes Sr., a son, John Raynes Jr., two brothers, Welford "Shorty" Morris and Marvin Morris, and a sister, Mamie Dean.

Her surviving family includes two brothers, Twyman Morris and wife, Virginia, and Norris Deane and wife, Winnie, all of Stanardsville, and a sister, Lois Brady of Florida.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 4, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. in the Eastlawn Cemetery with Pastor A. Lee Kinsey officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg on Sunday from 3-5 p.m.
