DR. C. L. WING
Dr. C. L. Wing, son of C. W.. and Fannie J. Wing, was born July 18, 1886 in Lucas county near Derby, Ia., and passed away October 22, 1965 at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home in Cedar Falls at the age of 79 years, three months, and four days.
He received his education in the Lucas county schools and upon completion of his college education, graduating from Chicago Veterinary College, April 7, 1912, he began his practice at Derby and then came to Van Wert where he continued for nearly 50 years. For the past 2 1/2 years he has resided at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.
On March 12, 1913 he was united in marriage to Alice Lazear in Chariton, who preceded him in death on November 17, 1952. To this union one son was born. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, four brothers: Robert W., Doctor Seneca, John D., and J. Thomas; and four sisters, Nora J. Spencer, Delia A. McCollough, Truthful F. Malsbury, and Bessie Wing.
He is survived by one son, William Francis Wing and wife, Marie of Waterloo, and the following grandchildren: Roger L. Wing of Waterloo; Mrs. Donna Okerstrom and husband, John R. of Cedar Falls; Mrs. Linda Burke and husband, Thomas L. of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Shirley Wildebour and husband, Allen L. of Cedar Falls, and one great granddaughter, Lori Ann Burke.
He was a member of Fidelity Lodge No. 228 AF & AM and Jacinth Lodge No. 443 A F & AM of Weldon for over 50 years. He devoted his life to helping alleviate pain in his family and friends as well as in the animals he cared for. As a result he received the love and respect of his many relatives and friends.
Services were held at the Slade Funeral Home Monday, Nov. 1, 1965 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. R. L. Russell, First Evangelical United Brethren church of Waterloo, officiating.
Pall bearers were: Russell Kernen, Clifton Redman, Horace Redman, Raymond Redman, Malcolm Tiedge and Carl Upfield. The singers, Mrs. Nadine Redman and Mrs. Esther Watson sang the hymns "In the Garden", and "Beyond the Sunset", accompanied by the organist, Mrs. Grover Hamilton.
Masonic graveside services were conducted at the Derby cemetery.
