MACCLESFIELD - John Wesley Burnett, 86, died Sunday at the Fountains of the Albemarle.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Carlisle Funeral Home with Rev. Carroll Bradbury officiating. Burial will follow in the Womble Family Cemetery near Temperance Hall. Mr. Burnett was a proud veteran, having served with the U.S. Army during WW II.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Alice Gay Burnett; sons, Keith Burnett of Richmond, Va. John W. Burnett, Jr. of New Bern, N.C.; a daughter, Patricia Burnett of Richmond, Va.; a stepson, John Spencer Pitt of Macclesfield; stepdaughters, Polly Edmondson of Pinetops, Ellen Morris, Janice Dougherty, Carolyn Baker, all of Macclesfield; sisters, Vernell White of Richmond, Va. and Thelma Bass of Williamsburg, Va.; three grandchildren, 16 step-grandchildren and 23 step-great-grandchildren
