William Schifferd died at his home, 613 North Monroe street, at 9:30 o'clock Tuesday morning of cancer. He had been ill a long time. Mr. Schifferd was born May 19, 1831 in Lehigh county, Pennsylvania. He married Miss Susan Vance in Clinton county. He lived In Decatur for a number of years. He is survived by his wife, one son, John Schifferd of DeWitt county, two daughters, Mrs. Flora Koons, 936 West Marietta, and Mrs W. H. Hassinger, six miles west of Decatur, and two brothers and five sisters near Philadelphia. The funeral will be held at the United Brethren church at 1.30 o'clock Thursday afternoon. The burial will be at Boiling Springs.
