Well Known Scott City Woman Dies Unexpectedly While Visiting With Friend.

Mrs. Samuel Barnhart, well known resident of this city for may years, died Friday at her home here. She had been ill several days but had been able to be up and around to some extent. While talking to a neighbor woman she died quietly without suffering. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 o'clock from the Baptist church. In charge was the pastor, Rev. Marion O. Wheaton and Rev. W.W. Turner, pastor of the Scott City Mission. Interment was in the Scott City Cemetery. Laura Etta Griffith was born to Mary Ann and Isaac T. Griffith July 24, 1872 at Bloomington, Ind., where she resided during her early childhood. She was one of 12 children, all of whom preceded her in death. She moved later with her parents to Kansas where they resided near Pratt for a year, after which they moved to Missouri where she was united in marriage to Samuel E. Barnhart. To this union three daughters were born, all of whom survive. They are Misses Ruby and Mae of the home and Mrs. Wm. Lane of this city. She also is survived by two grandchildren, PFC Robert Lane of the marine corp who is in foreign service and Miss Georgia Lane, at home, and many other relatives and friends. Two grandchildren, Billie Hunter Lane and Charles Mercer Lane preceded her in death. Mrs. Barnhart professed her faith in Christ at the age of 16 years and was baptized into the Christian church, keeping her faith in her Savior ever foremost in her daily life. You have left us dear Mother. Our heart is filled with pain. But we will try to be faithful. Until the day we shall meet again. We know you'll be waiting and watching. And what a joyful time it will be, When we cross the river of life and from the cares of this world we'll be free. So we'll not say good bye now Mother. We'll only say So Long. And patiently wait for the time when we'll join that heavenly throng.
