William Thomas Womble
Retired Master Sgt. William T. "Tommy" Womble, 64, of Spring Lake died Tuesday, April 8, at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg. The funeral was at 1 p.m. Friday, April 11, at Temperance Hall United Methodist Church in Elm City. Pastor Graham Royall officiated. Burial in the Wilkins-Womble-Lancaster family cemetery in Elm city with full military honors. Mr. Womble retire. Air Force with 26 years plus of service. Two and a half tours in Vietnam.He received the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, Achievement and Outstanding Unit Award with one silver and two bronze oak leaf clusters, as well as the National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. Mr. Womble was the son of the late Charlie William Thomas Womble and Helen Marie Womble. Mr. Womble is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years Laurie Jo of home, two sons, William "Billy" Thomas Womble,Jr. of Benson, Van Allen Womble and wife Jennifer Rebecca of Sanford, brother Charles "Bobby" Robert Womble and wife Maryanna and David Andrew Womble and wife Nancy of Lunenburg, Mass., one sister Mary Deborah Womble Johnson and husband John of New Egypt, N.J., and one granddaughter, Vannie Marie Womble. He is also survived by several special nieces and nephews. He was dearly loved and be missed by all. Arrangements are by Adcock Funeral Home.
