MARVEL KENNETH JOHNSON
Marvel Kenneth Johnson, son of Franklin and Cora Johnson, was born Feb. 23, 1900, in Glenwood, Schuyler county, Mo. There he spent his boyhood days until at the age of 15 years he moved with his family to Iowa, where he made his home until eight years ago, when he moved to Chico, Calif., where he passed away at his home on Monday, Dec. 11, 1950, at the age of 50 years, nine months and 18 days.
In 1922 he was united in marriage to Ellen Sowder. To this union one daughter, Louise, was born.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Ellen Johnson, survivors include the following children, Louise Johnson, Mrs. Mildred Edgington and Orville Sowder, all of Chico, Calif. Two grandchildren, Robert Edgington and David Sowder.
Other survivors are his mother, Mrs. Cora Jennings of Humeston, three brothers, Fred and Pearl Johnson of Humeston, A. W. Johnson of Russell, three sisters, Mrs. Ida McCartney of Humeston, Mrs. Viola Grismore of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. Sylvia Eachus of Keenesburg, Colo.
There are a large number of nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
At the time of his death he was employed at the Diamond Match Co. in Chico, Calif.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Brusie funeral home, the Rev. C. Allen Taff, pastor of the Grace Baptist church officiating. The body was brought to Humeston to the Hutchinson funeral home. Services were held at the Methodist church in Derby, Friday, Dec. 15, at 2 o'clock. The Rev. A. E. Beals and the Rev. J. E. Clark officiated and interment was made in the Derby cemetery.
