He was retired from Olin Company as manager of quality assurance. He served with the United States Army (First Lieutenant). He earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He was the inventor of the Banjo Putter and president of Banjo Golf Company. He was a member of the Broad Street United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, William J. and Anna Elizabeth Brehm Yost, and by brothers, Carl Yost and Bill Yost, and sisters, Violet Odom and Erma Simmons. He was survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Yost; children, Beth Borst and her husband Mike, Steven Yost, David Yost and his wife Dana, and Michael Yost; grandchildren, Will Borst, Lauren Borst, Meredith Borst, Haydin Yost and Harrison Yost; sister, Lois Kreutz; brother, Glenn Yost; and an extended family of relatives. His funeral was held December 17, 2009, at Broad Street United Methodist Church in Cleveland, TN, with The Rev. Reed Shell and The Rev. Debbie Stokes officiating.
