Mark was a farmer most of his life and for the last few years he worked construction with his sons. He was a minister in numerous churches since 1969 and was currently a member of the Oak Grove Old German Baptist Brethren Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Dale Hess Benedict.
He is survived by wife, Joan (Weyant) Benedict, whom he married on August 16, 1964; children and their spouses, Dale and Karen Benedict, Faith and Russell Wray, Joel and Tara Benedict, Jeremy and Michelle Benedict, and Nevin Benedict; grandchildren, Andre Benedict, Ian Benedict, Izeke Benedict, Hannah Wray, Corbin Wray, Carly Wray, Brendan Wray, Reuben Wray, Tristen Benedict, Tori Mae Benedict, Rae Lynn Benedict, Shane Benedict, and Alexia Benedict; foster children, Ron Johns and Brady Johns; stepmother, Julia Benedict; sisters and brothers-in-law, Fay and Lester Frey, Edna and Floyd Denlinger, Joan and Carl Helman, Lois and Eldon Flora, and Mae Emig; brothers and sisters-in-law, Christ and Mary Beth Benedict and Keith and Sharon Benedict; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gene and Wanda Weyant; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a service held on Monday, May 25, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sugar Grove Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Farrington Rd., Covington, Ohio, with the Home Brethren officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Darke County, Ohio.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, May 24, 2009 from 1-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.
