Milton Allen Abel, 63, Indianapolis, owner of the former Hudson's Menswear, died August 7th in Community Hospital.

Mr. Abel bought Hudson's in 1965. It included stores in Eastgate, Lafayette Square and Washington Square shopping centers and in Richmond. He sold the stores in 1982 and retired.

He and his father had owned Milton's Clothes in downtown Marion.

Mr. Abel was former president of the Chamber of Commerce at Marion and Grant County Mental Health Association. He also was a former member of the school board.

He was a Navy and USMC veteran of World War II and was a member of Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation and its brotherhood. He formerly was president of the Indiana Men's Wear Association, which had honored Mr. Abel as its Merchant of the Year.

He was a member of B'nai B'rith Lodge 58, Boradmoor Country Club and Columbia Club. A native of Zanesville, Ohio, he lived in Indianapolis more than 20 years.

Survivors: wife, Annette Gruber Abel; daughters Marlene Calderon, Jody Tzucker, Nancy Strother, Lisa Bogner; mother, Jen Abel, sister, Annette Klain; six grandchildren.
