Carol Ann McCabe, 75, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Altoona, died Christmas morning, Dec. 25, 2009. She was a daughter of Francis and Margaret Conroy of Altoona. Survived by son, Brian; daughters: Patricia Watkins, Terri McCabe, Suann (John) Mooney and Carolyn (Brian) Drury; sisters: Janet Laushell and Frances McKinney, Altoona; 13 grandchildren: Brian, Devin, Gregory, Brittany, John-Paul, Jack, Sara, Connor, Rick, Parker, Maya, Catherine and Patrick. Predeceased by husband of 52 years, John; and sons: John Jr. and Michael. Carol was employed first by the Ohio Farm Bureau and then by the Columbus public schools. She was a long-time parishioner of Columbus St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Carol was the first woman president and director of the board of trustees for the Godman Guild, a member of the Harper Valley Mothers' Club, and the first president of the Harrison West Society in Columbus. Under her leadership, many family homes were preserved through grants and Harrison West stayed a neighborhood of families. Friends received Weds., Dec. 30, at Westminster Thurber Community Chapel. Funeral Mass, Thurs., Dec. 31, 10 AM, St. Francis of Assisi Church, Columbus, Ohio. Interment, St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, OH.
