Funeral services for Oneta Faye Killebrew Tyer, 82, of the Lilbert Community near Cushing will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 26, 2009, at the Dickie Allen Funeral Home Chapel in Cushing with the Rev. Bill Roberts and the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Redland Cemetery. Mrs. Tyer died Tuesday, December 22, 2009, in Nacogdoches. She was born March 18, 1927, in Olusta, Oklahoma, to William Thomas and Jessie Evie Whitaker Killebrew Rocka. Mrs. Tyer was preceded in death by husband of 53 years, Robert L. Tyer Sr., as well as brothers, James Killebrew, Carlton Rocka, Billy Ray Rocka, and sisters, Astorleen Klemenchuck and Mary Madison. She was a member of the Lilbert Baptist Church and an active member of the Cushing No. 368 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Tyer grew up in the Lilbert Community and in Palestine, Texas. She had also lived in Houston where she was a nurse's aide for the Red Cross. She and her family moved back to Lilbert in 1968 and she worked at Gay Products in Nacogodches until she retired. She was an avid quilter and made and sold beautiful quilts that were bought by people near and far. Survivors include daughters, Patricia Cousins of New Braunfels, Texas, Debbie Miller of Lilbert, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. Jr. and Joyce Tyer of Lilbert, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Dorothy Rocka of Lilbert, Texas; grandchildren, Adam Tyer and wife, Kari, Melissa Williamson and husband, Josh, Carrie O'Hanlon and husband, Clay, Michael Donnell and wife, Stephanie, Matthew Donnell and wife, Rachel, Mark Miller and wife, Kathleen, David Cousins and wife, Christie, John Cousins and wife, Lindsey, Rebecca Garcia and fiancee,' Kevin, and Tami DePenning and husband, Todd; also 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Michael, Matt, Mark, Adam, David and John. The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Prabhaker Guniganti for all the times he brought her back to them as her doctor; Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital for all the care they have given her over the years; to Lexington Place Rehabilitation Facility for the excellent care given during the month preceding her death. And a very special thanks to Anittra Adkison, her home health nurse for many years. Her constant love and care she showed our Mom over a period of several years was above and beyond the call of her job. She was dearly loved by our Mom, and the family can not adequately express their deep appreciation.
