GREENSBORO, NC — Roland Wesley "R. W." Nichols, 85, passed away Tuesday December 15, 2009 at his residence.
Funeral services were at 2 pm at Forbis & Dick North Elm Street Chapel on Friday December 18, 2009 with Rev. Gene Lawhorne officiating. Interment followed at the Buchanan Baptist Church Cemetery.
A native of Surry County, Roland was born August 11, 1924 to the late William and Sarah Nichols.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Gary Wayne Nichols and a sister; Louise Nichols Solomon of Miami, Florida.
Roland is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margie Nichols of the home; children; John Wesley Nichols and Don Lee Nichols of Greensboro and daughter-in-law Angie; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters Jeanette Nichols Scott of Brown Summit, and Alice Nichols Belton of Greensboro.
