Funeral services for Verna Francis Whitaker, 79, of Cushing, Texas, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Ira Hobbs and John Culver officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery in Cushing.

Mrs. Whitaker died December 2, 2003, in Nacogdoches. She was born July 18, 1924, in Nacogdoches. She was married to Clifford Cleo Whitaker, and he preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by brother, Jesse Hartless and sister, Mary Alice Daughtery.

Survivors include sons, Clint Whitaker and wife, Glenda, of Texarkana, Texas, Farrell Whitaker and wife, Cheryl, of Granite City, Illinois, and Clifford Darrell Whitaker of Reklaw, Texas; daughters, Karon Luna and husband, Vincent, of Nacogdoches, Texas and Wanda Saathoff and husband, Gary, of Downers Grove, Illinois; sisters, Paula Glover of Lufkin, Texas, Billie Crisp of Corpus Christi, Texas, Maudeen Oehlers of Houston, Texas, Jeanette Harris of Center, Texas, and Tommie Anne Todd of Baytown, Texas; brother, Allen Hartless of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, DeAnn Johnson, Jennifer Anderson, Gerald Whitaker, Audra Saathoff, Brittney Crawmer, Cristy Brown, Daniel Whitaker and David Whitaker; and great-grandchildren, Madison Anderson, Jaxon Anderson, Meagan Johnson, Kaylynn Crawmer, Cameron George Johnson and Rebecca Whitaker.
Larry Tyler (Dona K.) of Carthage; Bruce Tyler (Linda) of New Braunfels; and Kathryn Tyler Walker (Bruce) of Beaumont. She is also mourned by her two remaining sisters, Mrs. Earl (Frances) Newland of Waco; and Mrs. Stanley (Margaret) Ferguson of Shreveport, Louisiana. She is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. today.
