Rev. Hawkins was the husband of Jessie Ann (DuPuy) Hawkins.


"Retired Pastor Dies At Home"

The Rev. Stephen Fred Hawkins, 66 years old, retired Baptist minister, succumbed in his home yesterday morning after a long illness.


Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at First Southern Baptist Church, 1202 North Third Street, with the Rev. C. Vaughan Rock officiating. Interment will be in Double Butte Cemetery.


The Rev. Mr. Hawkins had been a Phoenix resident for 22 years, and prior to that had resided in other Arizona communities. He had been pastor of the West End Baptist Church in Phoenix, the Buckeye Baptist Church, the Fowler Baptist Church and Willcox Baptist Church.


He retired seven years ago. He came here from O'Brien, Tex. He had been a missionary in Oklahoma and Texas.


He was born February 17, 1874. He is survived by his wife, Jessie Ann; three daughters, Miss Floy Hawkins, a missionary at Kowloon, Hong Kong, since 1928, Mrs. Mamie Lewis and Mrs. Maude Stevenson, valley residents; four sons, S.F., Jr., Herschel, Herbert and Allen, also valley residents; four sisters and one brother, all of whom live at or near Eastland, Tex., and six grandchildren.


He had been a member of the Woodmen of the World for 35 years.
