William Edgar Pitts Jr., 84, passed away, December 25, 2008, in Monticello, Fla. Funeral service will be Sunday, December 28, 2008, at 5 p.m. EST at Beggs Funeral Home Monticello Chapel, 485 E. Dogwood Street, Monticello, Florida. The family will receive friends today December 27, 2008 at Beggs Funeral Home Monticello Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. Mr. Pitts was a native of Taylor County and had lived in Tallahassee before moving to Monticello. He was retired from the Railroad as a switchman and served our Country in the Navy. He was a man of faith and last attended Calvary Baptist Church in Monticello. Mr. Pitts, is survived by his wife, Christine Pitts of Monticello; two sons, Donnie M. Pitts and Benjamin M. Pitts both of Monticello; one brother, Jerald Pitts of Monticello; two sisters, Minnie Sullivan of Monticello and Ella Oglesby of Tallahassee; three grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Edgar Pitts Sr., and Nancy Daniels Pitts; and one son, Jerome Pitts.
