Walter Adams Jr., a long-term resident (42 years) of Las Vegas, and member of the IBEW Local 357 for more than 30 years, passed away Dec. 13, 2009, in Las Vegas. He was born April 2, 1952, at Maxwell A.F.B.; Montgomery, Ala.

As a "Military Brat" Walter attended various schools in is youth, in Alabama, Europe, Louisiana, Nevada, and South Carolina. Walter graduate from Rancho High School, in Las Vegas, NV in 1970.

Walter enjoyed many passions, playing his drum set, fishing, his 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Malibu, gardening, traveling, and photography.

Walter previously worked as a linemen for Nevada Bell for a number of years, prior to the FCC's restructuring of AT&T/Bell Telephone Company. Walter's experience as a lineman was naturally a given that lead to his becoming a Journeyman with the IBEW Local #357 where he received certification as a Master Electrician. As an electrician he worked for the City of Las Vegas and various projects through his union.

Walter was preceded in death by his father, M/Sgt. Walter Adams (2009); mother-in-law, Bertha Haynes (2009); and father-in-law, George Winn. He is survived by his loving wife, of 34 years, Yvette D. Adams; their daughter, Markeshia Jones (Ronnie) Phillips; mother, Georgia Adams; brothers, Kenneth and Vincent Adams; sisters, Scherrie (Glenn Allen Sr.) Adams-Ambré and Sharon Y. Dockter; sisters-in-law, Wanda (Roy) Whitaker, Paula Taylor and Josetta Haggard; nieces, LaTonya Broome-Richardson, Kendria Adams, Courtenay Adams-Ambré and Chardonnay Adams-Ambré; nephews, Christianson D. Dockter and Michael Adams-Ambré; former wife Marilyn McCoy, as well as a host of other nieces, nephews and relatives.

Walter's viewing will be 2-6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, both at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. The family would like to thank everyone for your prayers, your words of encouragement and your help during this difficult time.
