Elijah Irwin was the son of Tom and Sinia Caudill Irwin. He had 7 brothers and sisters but there is very little written about Lige in the history of Alleghany County. He sired 3 children one being my grandfather, Launa "Lonnie" Boyden Irwin, and 2 daughters my great aunts Jestin Irwin Crouse also buried at Antioch and aunt Eva....who married W.G. "Greenie" Petty also buried at Antioch. My great grandfather was an inventor and held 2 patents. One for a combination lock he and my grandfather Lonnie invented and I have one of the two known to exist. Lige also patented a horse detacher while living in Alleghany County too. These are two pictures I have found but am unable to put here on his memorial. My grandfather loved his dad and was very much like him.
Edit update: Elijah now has a namesake for he and his dad Thomas Irwin. He has a great great great great grandson Elijah Thomas Hill born 2018 in Greensboro NC. The combination lock is now in safe keeping for him when he becomes an adult.
