Together we remember Sidney Erin Aldous, 87, of Las Vegas, passed away Nov. 29, 2009. He was born Jan. 10, 1922, in Rexburg, Idaho.
Sid graduated from Idaho State University with his bachelor of science degree in architecture and was a retired contractor. He received an honorary discharge from the U.S. Naval Reserve as a lieutenant junior grade.
Sid is survived by his wife, Phyllis, who was his best friend and confidant; sister, Alice Bradford; six children, Sydney Swainston, Toni Norman, Robert Aldous, Tyler Aldous, Jonna Lewis and Preston Aldous; four stepchildren, Julie Dalmau, Phil Dalmatoff, Joe Gifford and Katie Gifford; 27 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
In his last days, he was comforted and cared for in his home by his wife, Phyllis and experienced caregivers. Thankfully, Sid's wish to spend his last days at home was supported by his family Sydney and Kurt Swainston.
Sid was a great American. He served his country well during World War II. He served in many capacities in the LDS Church. He was an outstanding contractor licensed in many states. Sid will always be remembered as the loving patriarch of our family. His great presence will be deeply missed.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Summerlin Chapel, 9011 Hillpointe Road, Las Vegas, NV 89134. Interment will be at 9:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Boulder City.
