Merrill Argyle Beckstrom, 74, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend passed away Monday November 13, 2000 at home of a heart attack.

Merrill was born Dec. 9, 1925 in Benjamin, UT. to Archibald and Elizabeth Argyle Beckstrom.

He married LaRue Shepherd on Dec. 5, 1952 in Benjamin, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple Dec. 19, 1963.

Merrill was educated in Benjamin and Spanish Fork.

He was a prominent business man in the sheep, and farming industry for more than 60 years.

Merrill and his brother Blair were partners in the sheep industry for many years.

He continued in the sheep business with his sons.

Merrill served on the Board of Directors for the Utah Wool Growers Association, and the Advisory Board of the B.L.M.

He was a member of the Arrowhead Riding Club for several years.

He enjoyed his family, the outdoors, and softball.

He was quite the pitcher in his younger days.

He was a active member of the L.D.S. church where he served many callings including secretary of High Priest, Home Teacher, and Activities Committee.

He was very friendly and outgoing.

Merrill is survived by his loving wife LaRue of 48 years; his two sons and two daughters: Kevin Beckstrom, Benjamin; Connie (Rick) Hansen, Palmyra; Scott (Susan) Beckstrom, Benjamin; Janet (Mike) Edwards, Spanish Fork; stepmother, Nancy Beckstrom; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandsons; two brothers and three sisters: Mary (Robert) Jensen, Frank (Helen) Beckstrom, Beth (Case) Wyler, Wayne Beckstrom, Blair (Diane) Beckstrom; two sisters-in-laws: Iris Eggertson, Helen Beckstrom; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Clarence and Leon, a sister Ila, two infant brothers, and his faithful sheep dog Trixie.

Funeral Services will be Thursday November 16, 2000 at 11 a.m. in the Benjamin L.D.S. Ward, 3238 West 7300 South, Benjamin.

Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Mortuary of Spanish Fork, 187 South Main Street, and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Interment will be in the Benjamin City Cemetery.

Dad, we love you and will miss you always.
