Funeral services for Betty Jean Richardson, 84, of Longview, TX will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2009 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Reverends Tony Harp and Jimmy Jones officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, at Roselawn Cemetery, Van Vleck, TX under the direction of Rader Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on March 15th, 1925 to Joseph Kvach and Belva (Lockwood) Kvach, she lived her early years in Cedar Rapids before moving with her family to San Diego California. While in San Diego she met and married Joseph Dewell Richardson who was serving in the Army Air Corps. After World War II they moved to Sweeny, Texas to raise their three children: Darlene Druckhammer, Judy Richardson and Duane Richardson. During this time they traveled around the world for Joseph's job with PetroChem. After Joseph's death in 1973 she spent time in Houston and Louisville, Kentucky before settling in Longview, where she continued to live for her remaining 30 years. She was a member of the Longview Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her three children and eight grandchildren: Cathy Druckhammer Bales and husband Justin, Christy Cherniss and husband Matt, Cheryl Pletzer and husband Randy, Pamela Paul and husband Adam, Paula Harp and husband Chris, Robert Richardson, Megan Tomlinson, Rachel Stone and her husband Cory and eleven great grandchildren: Joshua and Zachary Cherniss, Becky and Crystal Pletzer, Katie and Abigail Paul, Collin and soon to be born Connor Harp, Jordan, Seth, and Matthew Tomlinson, along with her favorite dog, Ike.
