Mark was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on March 31, 1955, to Robert & Lois Santner. He was the third child of three, having an older brother and sister. He attended school at Sweeny and graduated from Sweeny High School. Mark was a large man who liked the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed wood working and carpentry in high school and metal working later in life.
As a small child, he always exhibited an intense curiosity about almost everything and in this regard was always a constant source of excitement for his family. After high school, Mark worked on oil rigs for several years as a rigger. He then worked for the Phillips Refinery at Old Ocean as a pipefitter. Later, he worked in the BASF plant at Freeport as an operator.
His daughter, Amy Nicole Santner was the light of his life and he loved to spend time with her doing anything, but especially sharing their common love for the outdoors. He also was very interested in her education.
He loved and respected his mother and father. When his dad died several years go, he took it very hard. Living near his mother, he looked after her, helping with heavy work.
In recent years, he became interested in his family history and particularly the spiritual heritage that was evident. His father started the Sweeny Nazarene Church and Mark was one of the charter members and a faithful attender there. While attending the Sweeny Nazarene Church, he also taught a Sunday School class. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Roy Santner of Lake Jackson.
He is survived by his daughter, Amy Nicole Santner of Sweeny; mother, Lois Blanche Conrad Santner of Lake Jackson; sister, Linda Westenburger and husband John of Lynchburg, Virginia; brother, Chris Santner and wife Rhonda of Houston. He is also survived by nieces, Jennifer Foster and Kara Santner and nephew, Nicholas Santner.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am., Saturday, October 20, 2001 at the Lake Jackson Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Ken Christoffersen officiating. Burial will follow at Sweeny Cemetery in Sweeny, Texas.
